The Best Travel Outfits For Summer 2022

Best Travel Outfits

A great time to travel is during the summer. The atmosphere is so relaxed this time of year. By June, most people are ready for some outdoor fun in the sun as the pools open and the weather warms up.

You can travel more lightheartedly because you don’t need to bring a bulky coat or pair of boots with you. It is therefore best to be prepared for all the potential temperature changes you may experience during your travel day.

Best Travel Outfits For Summer

Summer Midi Dresses

Because they are comfortable and still make you feel put together, dresses are perfect for travel. Either a fun sandal or a white sneaker will work with your midi dress.

I adore that dresses can be dressed up or down, and that, if necessary, you can easily layer a cardigan or denim jacket over them.

Matching Sets

Due to their comfort and ability to keep you cool if you’re traveling to a warm climate, these matching sets make excellent travel attire. To give your look a little more structure, tuck the front of your shirt into your shorts.

To finish the look, add white sneakers or strappy sandals. I believe a sweet headband would complete the style.

White Jeans With A Duster

If you don’t have time to change once you get to your destination, this outfit will transition you from travel to adventure. It is both stylish and cozy.

You can wear white jeans with a variety of outfits, making them a great bottom to pack for trips. For a more laid-back appearance, you could substitute a slide sandal for the pearl flats.

Athleisure Looks

These outfits were my go-to choices for a laid-back day of exploring the town when we recently visited Florida’s 30A region. The first outfit pairs a cropped sweatshirt with the well-known Free People athletic shorts.

The shoes I’m wearing are very cozy and I adore the blush color if you’re looking for a pair of comfortable walking or running shoes.

Linen Pants

White jeans and light-colored linen pants are both excellent staple bottoms for the spring and summer. You can easily dress them more casually, as I did in the first photo, and they feel light and comfortable to wear. Or you could add a floral, puff-sleeved top to slightly dress them up.

Joggers

For I don’t know how many months, these joggers have consistently been a top seller. Beautiful color and I like how they don’t look too casual while still providing the same level of comfort as joggers.

I slightly dressed them up for this photo. But you can easily dress them down by wearing a tank top or bodysuit with sandals.

Shorts

A fun print on shorts is the perfect way to describe spring and summer. These are cozy because they are made of a linen-blend material. I wore it with a sweet top with smocking and ruffles.

It looks adorable worn with a miniskirt or a pair of jeans. Statement earrings and a sun hat complete the outfit.

Packing Tips For Summer

Figure Out Your Shoes First

It seems strange to start here, but I believe your shoes are dictated by your activities. I choose the appropriate shoes for the activities by considering what we will be doing.

I typically bring three pairs, plus a pair of flip-flops for beachwear or as slippers. For Maui, I purchased Vionic flip-flops with arch support because all shoes must be suitable for walking.

Make Clothes Choices Based On Weight

Because your suitcase will be lighter and have less bulk, you will have more room for your belongings. More options for outfits equate to more items.

Additionally, lightweight clothing is simple to layer and dries quickly after being washed. I’ve made some purchases specifically for travel. I have a parka from Patagonia, for instance, that weighs only 8 ounces and fits neatly into my travel bag.

My hiking shoes weigh 7 ounces each, and my raincoat fits in the exterior zipper compartment of my luggage.

Don’t Think In Terms Of Outfits

Instead, stick to one or two basic bottom colors, and then accessorize with tops and items that go with each of the bottoms. Make sure the shoes you’re bringing go with all possible ensembles.

I never wear items that cannot be interchanged, and I never add shoes to an outfit to make it look better.

Think Through Various Possible Scenarios

For example:

  • If it starts to rain while we are hiking, what should I wear?
  • In the event that we take the subway to a restaurant, will I feel at ease walking in my dressier shoes?
  • If not, what is my plan? If it’s cold, can I wear my pashmina with this outfit?

Making sure you’ve covered everything requires some time, but it’s worthwhile.

Roll The Clothes

Also effective are zip-top baggies. Nothing is loose inside the suitcases because the bags keep the clothes nicely compressed. I use one for tops and bottoms, one for undergarments, pajamas, scarves, swimsuits, and other miscellaneous items.

Invest In Quick Drying Underwear

I bring three pairs: one for wearing, one for washing, and one for spare. I own the Ex-Officio brand. The ones I wore that day get washed in the shower or the sink every night, and they are dry the following morning.

The majority of my clothes are clean and readily available for selection at any time because I typically wash my top every night.

If the trip is lengthy, we generally visit a laundromat every 8 to 10 days. A fun adventure like that is always waiting for you abroad.

Bring Only The Essential Cosmetics

This is fairly simple for me because I don’t use many products. For my shampoo, conditioner, and Woolite, I have 3-ounce travel containers. For TSA, the liquids are placed in a ziplock.

My Baggalini travel bag holds makeup in a small zippered case. I also packed a cute little crossbody bag because baggalini bags are very useful but also kind of ugly.

Packing In A Carry-on

You may not be as aware of your surroundings if you are trying to carry a large suitcase through airports, into cabs, or onto trains.

With a carry-on, you can avoid tricky situations better, and a single bag gives you a traveler instead of a tourist appearance.
